I-CAST
International Case Study Competition (I-CAST) is one out of the five branch competitions held by Process Engineering and Energy Days (PGD) UI 2025. I-CAST provides a platform for students from various majors all around the world to develop diverse problem solving about global issues in industrial cases through an integrated process of application of engineering knowledge while taking into account environmental sustainability, impact on the economy, empowering social communities, and even cultural behavior. This competition is expected to improve participants’ ability to analyze problems and their creativity in innovating a feasible solution.
Grand Theme
Accelerating Sustainable Process Through Green Engineering
With the theme, we believe that PGD UI 2025 will act as the best platforms to facilitate and motivate future leaders around the world in providing creative ideas and breakthrough innovations in order to accelerate sustainability.
Subtheme
Harnessing Indonesia’s Biomass for The Future of The Energy Transition to a Sustainable Energy Landscape
Indonesia currently has a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060, this can be achieved through revolutionizing the production of clean and efficient energy made from sustainable sources. Indonesia also possesses an underutilized yet diverse portfolio of biomass, which are organic materials capable of being processed into energy through thermochemical or biochemical methods. This is what our case is trying to bring light to, challenging young and innovative minds to come up with ways of innovating to maximize the potential of biomass in Indonesia to produce sustainable energy while analyzing the technical, economical, and social ramifications of said innovation.
